55-Year-Old ID'd As Man Killed In Plainfield Crash 55-Year-Old ID'd As Man Killed In Plainfield Crash
John Henry Burt Was Killed After Car Went Off The Road Authorities in Hampshire County say they have identified the man who died after his car went off the road and crashed over the weekend.  John Henry Burt, 55, crashed into the woods off Grant Street near North Street in Plainfield around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, the Northwestern District Attorney's Office said.  Firefighters had to cut him from the vehicle. Paramedics rushed him to Berkshire Medical Center, where doctors pronounced him dead.  There were no other injuries.  The cause of the crash is still being investigated.

Plainfield Man Busted Sending Sexual Messages To 'Child' On Facebook: DA A 49-year-old Plainfield man who thought he was preying on a 14-year-old girl on Facebook was, in truth, talking to an undercover officer in Berkshire County.  Jamie Wooldridge was arrested earlier this month and charged with dissemination of matter harmful to a minor and enticing a child under 16, the Berkshire County District Attorney's Office said. He had been in contact with a North Adams police officer posing as a child for more than a year before his bust. Thousands Without Power As Snow Blankets Parts Of Western Mass As much as a foot of snow has fallen in parts of Western Massachusetts on Friday, Dec. 16, with more on the way. But along with the beautiful views come traffic issues and power outages.  The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) lists more than 3,000 power outages in pockets across the state, with most reported in the west, where snow is at its heaviest. Strong Gusty Winds Down Tree Limbs, Cause Scattered Power Outages In Western Mass Hundreds of Massachusetts residents are now without power as wind gusts topping 50 mph whip through the region. A High Wind Warning is in effect until 4 p.m. Monday, March 29. As of around 10:30 a.m. on Monday, utility crews from Eversource were still working to repair dozens of outages that were impacting 2,766 of the company’s 220,386 customers in Western Massachusetts. An additional 71 customers were impacted in Central and Eastern Massachusetts, according to the company. Meanwhile, Belchertown’s 14-day COVID-19 positive test rate is going down. The rate went from 3.6 percent to 2.7 percent in one week. Massachusetts' seven-day positive test rate for COVID-19 has been below 2 percent since the beginning of July. On Friday, July 17, Gov. Charlie Baker said the positive rate for the past seven days is 1.7 percent. Meanwhile, in Hampshire County, Chesterfield is the only community with a 14-day positive test rate of over 2 percent - the town's rate is 6.7 percent.
