Belchertown Man Guilty Of Multiple Rape, Sentenced To Up To 7 Years: DA
A Hampshire judge sentenced a 42-year-old Belchertown man to between five and seven years in prison after a jury found him guilty of rape and several other violent crimes, authorities said. Erik L. Wheeler was also found guilty of strangulation, suffocation, and two counts of assault and battery stemming from attacks on the same victim in 2017 and 2018, the Northampton District Attorney's Office said. Northampton Physical Therapist Gets Probation In Indecent Assault Case: DA
A Northampton physical therapist who was convicted of inappropriately touching a patient won't serve jail time if he can behave for two years, authorities said. Edward Kostek, 42, of South Hadley was convicted on Thursday, Sept. 22, of indecent assault for touching a female patient multiple times during separate sessions, the Northampton District Attorney's Office said. A judge gave him a two-year suspended sentence and probation after hearing from the victim on Tuesday. Kostek must also stay away from the woman and undergo sex offender evaluation and treatment. Suspect Nabbed In Fatal Shooting In Region
Police have arrested a suspect in the shooting death of a Western Massachusetts man. The shooting of the 39-year-old man took place around 11 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 1 in Hampshire County in Northampton. The victim, who has not been identified, was transported to Baystate Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, said Northampton District Attorney’s Office Spokesperson Laurie Loisel.
