Animal Hoarding: 60 Boxer Dogs Seized From Mass Home Taxing Help Networks
The MSPCA is asking for help after the group took in 60 boxers from a home in Essex County earlier this week, making it one of the largest seizures in the group's history. Police said officers removed the dogs from a home on Locust Grove Road in Merrimac on Tuesday, June 11, after receiving reports of animal hoarding and overcrowding. The owner voluntarily forfeited the dogs to authorities. Police did not release the owner's name as no charges have been filed, but a multi-agency investigation involving Haverhill, Windham (New Hampshire), and Merrimac police is ongoing. …

A dog in Franklin County named Conrad was rescued from horrid conditions that left him emaciated, with several broken bones that had healed without being treated, and 20 small rocks in his stomach, the MSPCA said. A homeless puppy who was literally facing life or death traveled from Arizona to Massachusetts for a surgery that ended up saving her, animal rescue officials said. Valentina, a 12-week-old Chocolate Lab, was surrendered to a private veterinary practice in Arizona, the MSCPA-Angell reports. The puppy was unable to keep food down and was later diagnosed with vascular ring anomaly. The MSPCA is hoping to give the gift of a brand new home to an elderly horse this holiday season who is about to reach one year of homelessness. Merlin is an "American Paint" horse who was brought from Martha's Vineyard to Nevins Farm in Methuen in December 2021, the MSCPA said. About a month after 20 cats were rescued from devastating flooding in Kentucky, the MSPCA-Angell and Northeast Animal Shelter (NEAS) have welcomed another 26 cats to Massachusetts. The organization announced Thursday, Aug. 11 that over 100 goats need new homes after they were rescued from a Dighton property in January. The MSPCA-Angell in Boston is asking the public to help them identify the owner of a five-month old Pit Bull puppy who was found stranded and emaciated last week. PJ was found inside a crate in the area near Mount Hope Cemetery and brought into the MSPCA's medical center around 5:20 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15, Rob Halpin with the organization said. Seventy-six beagles are responding well and will soon need new homes after being saved from a breeding facility by Massachusetts animal rescue teams.
