Foursome Caught Smuggling More Than 1,000 Grams Of Cocaine In Western Mass
Four men from Springfield were arrested for trafficking more than 1,000 grams of cocaine among other illegal substances, authorities said. Miguel Rodriguez, Ricardo Collazo and Juan Santana were arrested around 7:50 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15, Springfield Police report. Springfield DEA members were conducting surveillance at a home on the 400 block of Walnut Street when they stopped a car with all three men inside, police said. A 35-year-old man from Lynn has been charged for fatally striking a 22-year-old from Marlborough while driving under the influence, Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden said. A man was killed after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Boston who was driving drunk, according to Massachusetts State Police. Shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday, June 4, troopers responded to the crash on Storrow Drive that resulted in the death of a pedestrian, police said. Cockfight Organizer Pleads Guilty To Animal Cruelty - More Than 400 Poultry Rescued
A city man has pleaded guilty for his participation in a Northampton-based cockfighting ring that law enforcement broke up in 2018. At the time of the bust, police and animal welfare officials allegedly rescued more than 400 roosters, hens, and chicks from being pressed into the bloodsport. A local couple that helped police rescue a kidnapped 11-year-old girl is being celebrated for their heroics.
