Officers in West Newbury are being praised for their teamwork and meticulous efforts in saving an injured bald eagle over the weekend. Sgt. Rich Parenteau and Officer Matt Dixon arrived first on the banks of the Merrimack River on River Road where the bird was spotted on Sunday, July 31, West Newbury Police said. 71-Year-Old Pulled From Massachusetts River ID'd As Local Musician 'Bahama Bob'
The body of a "staple on the local music scene" on the North Shore was pulled from the Merrimack River on Tuesday, authorities said. Robert Urzi, better known to his local community as "Bahama Bob," was found near the Whittier Bridge on the morning of July 5, Newburyport Police said on Twitter. Suspiciously Sinking North Shore Fire Boat Sparks Investigation
Authorities are looking for answers after a Newburyport Fire Department's Marine Unit vessel suspiciously sank while docked on the Merrimack River. A person walking in the area told Newburyport Police they saw the boat partially submerged while docked at Cashman Park around 4 a.m. on Friday, June 17, Newburyport Fire said. A four-day search for a 6-year-old boy who was swept into the Merrimack River has come to a close after a kayaker found a body authorities believe to be his. Massachusetts State Police announced that a body believed to be that of 6-year-old Mas DeChhat was located in the Pipers Quarry area of the river on the morning of Sunday, June 12.
