Pedestrian Struck By Vehicle In Western Mass
A pedestrian by a vehicle in Western Massachusetts suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The incident took place in Hampshire County around 12:30 p.m Saturday, Aug. 14 in the area of Main and Masonic streets in Northampton, said Detective Lt. Craig Kirouac. The victim was taken to a local hospital and is expected to be okay, police said. An investigation is underway to determine if the person was in a crosswalk.

A staple of the Northampton late-night scene is closing temporarily this winter due to COVID-19. On Tuesday, Nov. 17, the owners of Packard’s Bar on Masonic Street announced it is closed, but will reopen in the spring. “With difficult decisions, rising number of cases and with the safety of our staff and customers in the forefront of our mind … Packard’s has decided to close for the winter and reopen in the spring,” the restaurant and bar said on its Facebook page. Business Owners Win: 'Shared Streets' To Be Removed From Northampton
Business owners who disliked Northampton’s new Shared Streets and Spaces initiative have gotten their way. Northampton will be removing the temporary changes to Main Street that reduced parking in favor of wider sidewalks and more outdoor dining. The redesign included artwork painted on the streets and additional flower pots between Old South Street/State Street and King Street/Pleasant Street. A New Restaurant For Northampton? T. Roots Applies For Liquor License
T. Roots Inc. is seeking a new seasonal liquor license in Northampton. The company, which was founded in May, has plans to open a restaurant at 249 Main St., according to public records. It is the site of the former Viva Fresh Pasta restaurant on the corner of Main and Masonic streets. Viva closed in August 2019. Owners are applying for a new seasonal wine and malt restaurant license. A Northampton License COmmission hearing on the liquor application will be held, virtually, Aug. 5 at 4 p.m. T.
