Pickles On The Lam: Pig Eludes Capture In Western Mass
Pickles, a pig that has been missing since August in Hampshire County, has been spotted, and now animal rescue agents have set a trap. Police are asking people to stay away to avoid them and hurt help efforts. Pickles the pig vanished from his pen in Belchertown months ago. Belchertown Animal Control set traps to capture the animal, but he escaped their best efforts. Granby Animal Control said the pig reappeared near Carver and Chicopee Streets recently. Multiple People Taken To Hospital Over Carbon Monoxide Leak In Western Mass
Several people were taken for observation after they were exposed to carbon monoxide at Red Rocks Plaza in Hampshire County on Wednesday, Oct. 25. Responders were originally told that the people showing symptoms had been exposed to epoxy, but firefighters traced the source of the issue to a propane heater causing carbon monoxide to build up, the Southampton Fire Department said. Rape Case: Western Mass Physical Therapist Pleads Not Guilty To Patient's Claims
A former physical therapist in Western Massachusetts accused of raping a former patient in 2012 pleaded not guilty Monday, July 10, to two charges, authorities announced. Edward Kostek, 42, of South Hadley in Hampshire County, was convicted of three counts of indecent assault and battery in September after a woman said he'd groped her during three physical therapy sessions at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton in 2019, the Northwestern District Attorney's Office said. Fatal Crash: 1 Dead, Another Seriously Hurt After Car Slams Into Tree In Western Mass
A 21-year-old man was killed Thursday morning, April 27, in Hampshire County when the car he was riding in crashed into a tree, authorities said. The 19-year-old driver was seriously injured in the wreck. Officials said the car crossed the center line and slammed into the tree at 20 River Lodge Road in South Hadley just before 8 a.m., the Northwestern District Attorney's Office said. Political pundit Rachel Maddow, who calls New England home, has inked a new multi-million dollar deal that will see her pocketing more cash while doing fewer shows once her deal expires in the spring. Maddow, who owns a Manhattan apartment and a getaway home in Hampshire County reportedly has a new deal at MSNBC that will amount to around $30 million annually for approximately 30 shows per year.
