A 48-year-old Maine man is behind bars on Wednesday, May 8, after DNA tests linked him to the violent rape of a woman in the woods of Hampden County in 2000, authorities said.
Jamie Dodge, of Brownville, Maine, is charged with aggravated rape and kidnapping in connection with an attack that happened in Holland, which is just outside of Springfield, the Hampden County District Attorney's Office said. He was being held on a $250,000 bail.

A 48-year-old Hampden County woman who was found stabbed to death in Holyoke next to her boyfriend was the executive assistant to Hampden County Sheriff Nick Cocchi, authorities said.
Eileen Monaghan, of Chicopee, and a mother to two daughters, was found on Sunday, April 14, around 1:30 a.m. in a home on South Water Street after police were called for suspicious activity, officials said.

A Springfield man could spend more than two decades behind bars for the 2021 armed robbery of a convenience store, authorities said.
Warner Donaldson, 50, was sentenced to 17 to 23 years in prison on Tuesday, Jan. 30, the Hampden County District Attorney's Office announced. A jury convicted him on Friday of armed robbery while masked, assault with a dangerous weapon, and theft under $1200.
Donaldson was accused of the Feb. 28, 2021, robbery of a convenience store in the 500 block of Boston Road, the prosecutor said.

Two people in Hampden County have been arrested and charged with helping one of the men accused of shooting an innocent bystander and killing her baby in a Holyoke shooting earlier this month, authorities announced Tuesday, Oct. 17.
Jose Galarza, age 31, and Jay Marie Rosado-Rosario, age 29, both of Holyoke, are charged with accessory after the fact – murder, the Hampden County District Attorney said. Investigators said they helped Kermith Alvarez, the third suspect in the shooting, evade capture after the killing.

Springfield Killing: Man Charged In Shootout That Left 1 Dead, 1 Wounded
A 37-year-old man recovering from a gunshot wound at Baystate Medical Center is charged with a Thursday, Aug. 31, killing, authorities said.
Thomas Whitlock, of Springfield, is charged with murder, carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and discharging a gun within 500 feet of a building, Springfield police said.

A 19-year-old man who is charged with killing his 13-year-old brother when he crashed his car into a Chicopee house last month was intoxicated and speeding at the time of the wreck, the prosecutor said.
Stefen Baulkman, of Holyoke, is charged with OUI, manslaughter, OUI causing serious bodily injury, and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, the Hampden County District Attorney's Office said.
