Police in Hampshire County are looking for the pickup truck driver who ran over a Florence teenager in a cornfield in Hatfield Friday, March 24, and left the man to die of his injuries, authorities said. Hit-Run Driver Slams Into Northampton Building While Evading Arrest: Police
Northampton Police had their hands full when they responded to two separate hit-and-run incidents in one night this week. The first incident was reported when a vehicle crashed into another car then fled the scene around 6:20 p.m. on Friday, March 3, police said on Facebook. Cockfight Organizer Pleads Guilty To Animal Cruelty - More Than 400 Poultry Rescued
A city man has pleaded guilty for his participation in a Northampton-based cockfighting ring that law enforcement broke up in 2018. At the time of the bust, police and animal welfare officials allegedly rescued more than 400 roosters, hens, and chicks from being pressed into the bloodsport. About half of the animals were deemed too aggressive and euthanized, according to an archived Daily Hampshire Gazette article. The driver in a two-vehicle accident that crushed a police officer’s leg will face charges in court in late March. New Canaan High School Hall Of Fame Coach Keith MacBain Has Died
Keith MacBain died at his home in Southampton on Sunday, Sept. 13 due to complications from Parkinson’s Disease. Keith was born in Englewood, NJ, and lived on a small farm in Closter, NJ, where his father ran a kennel. He later attended Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts and graduated in 1956. He received a B.A. in English from Cornell University in 1960 and an M.A. from Columbia Teachers College in 1964. He married Cynthia Loring in August of 1960, and they moved to Homewood, Illinois, to teach for two years. After moving back to Connecticut, Keith taught English at New Cana…
