A two-alarm fire in Haverhill that claimed one dog's life was ruled as accidental, Massachusetts State Fire Marshal Peter J. Ostroskey said in a release. The fire started on the back deck of a single-family home located at 58 8th Avenue just before 7 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5. The owners of a Connecticut restaurant announced the business has permanently closed following a fire. Gramma's Comfort Foods, located in Tolland County, has closed as of Monday, June 20, the owners announced in a Facebook post. The restaurant was located at 452 Stafford Road in Mansfield Center. "Saddens me to let y'all know Grammas is permanently closed due to Structure Fire," the announcement reads. "Please pray for us as we are devastated. We love you all that supported over the 4.5 years." The owners added that they hope to open a new establishment at some point in the future.

A Fairfield County man died in a fiery single-vehicle car crash. It happened in Hartford County around 2:13 a.m., Sunday, May 15 in Manchester. Police are investigating a fiery crash that left one person dead on a stretch of I-95 in Connecticut overnight. It happened around 10:50 p.m. Saturday, April 9 in West Haven. A 1970 Plymouth Duster with New York license plates was stationary in the median on I-95 northbound just before Exit 42 when a 2009 Honda Accord LX with Connecticut plates rear-ended the Duster, Connecticut State Police said. An investigation is underway after a driver was killed in a fiery single-vehicle crash in Western Massachusetts. Police responded to the crash in Hampden County, at around 3:40 a.m. on Tuesday, March 22, in the city of Agawam. Two Connecticut residents whose bodies were found following a fire died from a murder-suicide, according to the state's Chief Medical Examiner. The bodies of Arislediy Batista, age 18, and Nicolas Rodriguez-Vargas, age 20, were discovered around 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, in New London after police responded to a report of shots fired on Granite Street.
