With the Labor Day weekend marking the unofficial end of summer, forecasters are starting to look ahead and predict what's in store for the winter of 2025. The US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) says heavy precipitation is expected in the areas shown in the darkest shade of green in the first image above. A widespread storm system will bring heavy downpours at the tail-end of the weekend after a separate chance for heavy rain and isolated storms on Saturday, July 8. A storm system headed to the region will bring heavy downpours at the tail-end of the weekend. Storm activity is expected Sunday afternoon, July 9 into Sunday evening, according to the National Weather Service. A new round of strong to severe thunderstorms and showers are expected to sweep through the area. The time frame for the scattered storms across eastern New York, Connecticut and western New England is in the afternoon into the evening on Thursday, July 23. Several rounds of scattered showers and thunderstorms, some of which could be severe, will lead to relief from the heat and humidity that have gripped the region since the end of last week. Hot Stuff: Here's When You'll Really Feel The Heat This Weekend
Get set for a prolonged period of heat and humidity as temperatures will soar into the upper 90s with heat indices hitting 100 degrees or more over the weekend. Saturday, July 18 will feature above-normal temps with lots of sunshine and highs in the upper 80s to lower 90s across eastern New York, Connecticut and western New England.
