The first case of the COVID-19 variant has been detected in Massachusetts, according to the Department of Public Health. The first Massachusetts person to get B.1.1.7 is a Boston woman in her 20s. The variant has also been discovered in New York and Connecticut. She first became ill in early January and received a positive COVID-19 test. Three new cases of the COVID-19 variant so-called "Super Strain" that is said to be approximately 70 percent more contagious have now been confirmed in New York. That brings to four the total number now reported in the state. One of the new cases is on Long Island, in Nassau County. That case is a 64-year-old Massapequa man, New York Gov.
