Double-Fatal Crash: Man, Woman Struck By Compact SUV In Capital Region Crosswalk
Police are investigating a horrific double-fatal overnight crash in the region. It happened around 8:20 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9 near the New York/Massachusetts border in Columbia County, in the town of New Lebanon. New York State Police said an investigation determined a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek operated by Western Massachusetts resident Erica C. Florin, age 36, of the town of Lee in Berkshire County, was eastbound on US Highway 20 when she struck two pedestrians in the crosswalk. Man Found Hiding In Woods After Crash In Western Mass, Police Say
The Massachusetts State Police air wing helped locate a man who ran from a motor vehicle crash into a heavily wooded area. The incident took place in Berkshire County shortly after 5 p.m., Friday, April 8 in Clarksburg. Following the crash of a pickup truck, troopers responded to East Road to search for the driver who fled into the woods after being involved in a crash with another vehicle, said the Massachusetts State Police. The department's Air 5 helicopter crew were able to locate the 68-year-old Clarksburg man who was hiding and led ground crews using K-9s to him, state police said. …

State Police To Escort Body Of Slain Capitol Police Officer To Western Massachusetts For Burial
State Police from Massachusetts and Connecticut will escort the body of U.S. Capitol Police Officer William Evans, a Western Massachusetts native, after the flight carrying his remains arrives at Bradley International Airport. The escort will happen around 5:50 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, said the Connecticut State Police. Officer Killed In Capitol Attack Was HS Athlete From New England
The police officer killed in a car attack at the United States Capitol was a native of Western Massachusetts who was a high school athlete. Berkshire County native William "Billy" Evans, who grew up in North Adams and neighboring Clarksburg, graduated from Western New England University. He was 41 years old and served for nearly two decades in the US Capitol Police Force.
