'Swatting' Hoax Threats Send Multiple Massachusetts School Into Lockdowns
Multiple Massachusetts schools have been forced into lockdowns because of fake gun and bomb threats, otherwise known as "swatting" incidents, over the past four days. "Swatting" is defined as "the action or practice of making a prank call to emergency services in an attempt to bring about the dispatch of a large number of armed police officers to a particular address," according to Oxford Language. School Superintendent In New England Arrested By FBI Placed On Administrative Leave
A school superintendent in New England who was arrested by the FBI for allegedly making threats against a police chief candidate has placed on administrative leave. Western Massachusetts resident Lynn Clark age 51, of Belchertown in Hampden County, was arrested early Wednesday, April 6, said FBI Boston Division spokesperson Kristen Setera. Western Mass School Districts Announce Early Dismissals Due To Heat Advisory
With a Heat Advisory issued by the National Weather Service in effect, some Western Mass school districts have announced early dismissals on Monday, June 7. Heat index values in the upper 90s are expected Monday afternoon. The heat advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. Monday.
