A man trying to escape Worcester police after he crashed into a car on Thursday, July 6, tossed his "machine gun" as he ran, but it didn't do him much good, authorities said.
Kidam Oquendo, 22, of Worcester, faces nearly a dozen charges following the 6 p.m. incident, Worcester police said.
Summer Impact officers said they saw Oquendo speed past them in a white Audi on Hope Avenue, but they lost sight of the car before they could pull it over.

A second Connecticut teen has died from injuries suffered in a crash that also killed a 15-year-old girl last month.
The crash took place around 4:40 a.m. Sunday, June 25 in Windham County on Allen Hill Road near Route 205 in the small town of Brooklyn.

Police in Hampshire County have identified the 28-year-old woman killed in a crash in Granby over the weekend.
Katelyn Gress, of Granby, died on Saturday, July 1, when the Jeep Grand Cherokee she was riding in lost control, rolled over, and crashed into oncoming traffic near the intersection of Pleasant and Barton streets around 1:15 a.m., Granby police said.
The driver of the Cherokee — a 30-year-old Granby man — and the car they hit — a 74-year-old Springfield man — were both taken to area hospitals and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

A 28-year-old Granby woman was killed Saturday morning, July 1, when the SUV she was in lost control, rolled over, and crashed into oncoming traffic, authorities said.
