Construction workers in Waltham got a scare on Monday, Nov. 27, when they found a cache of unexploded cannon balls buried on a job site. Workers were on a job site at 41 Foundry Avenue when they found the 12 potentially explosive cannonballs, Massachusetts State Police said. The unexploded ordinances were found inside a pipe that workers uncovered. Bomb Squad Gives All-Clear At Woburn Courthouse After Evacuation: Report
The Middlesex Courthouse in Woburn returned to normal around noon on Thursday, Aug. 25, after a bomb threat forced state troopers to evacuate the building, reports said. The bomb threat came in around 10 a.m. Police did not go into detail about how the threat was made, but troopers took it as credible enough to evacuate the building. Authorities are investigating after a possible grenade was found buried in a yard in Connecticut. Police in Hartford County responded to a location on Troy Road in South Windsor at about 2:45 p.m. on Monday, April 18, according to the South Windsor Police Department. A bomb threat led to police locking down Smith College in Western Massachusetts, which issued a shelter-in-place order to start the day. Shortly before 6:15 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 28 in Hampshire County, Smith College in Northampton announced that the threat had been made against Burton Hall, which sits in the heart of the campus. A suspicious package found at a Connecticut adult day treatment center turned out to be a medical kit. The package was found at the Institute of Living at 200 Retreat Ave., in Hartford on Thursday, April 1, said Hartford Police.
