Boston-Born Actress Helps 'The Bear' Set Emmy Awards Record Ayo Edebiri, the Boston-born actress who became a breakout star in the culinary comedy "The Bear," was nominated for her second Emmy Award in as many years. The show collected 23 nominations, setting a new record for most ever for a comedy series in a single year.  Edebiri, who plays chef Sydney Adamu in the series, was nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy Series.
