Kemal Banatte Admits To Raping Child He Knew From 2015-2019
A 44-year-old Hampshire County man admitted to repeatedly sexually assaulting a child, authorities said, and now he knows how long he'll spend in prison. Kemal Banatte, of Amherst, was sentenced to six to seven behind bars after he pleaded guilty to one count of statutory rape of a child, one count of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, three counts of indecent assault and battery on a child over 14, and one count of witness intimidation, the Northwestern District Attorney said. Joshua Martinelli Shot Into Neighbor's Northampton Home: DA
A Hampshire County man fired into his neighbor's home with an AK-47 and came so close to hitting one of them that a bullet passed through a man's pants, authorities said. Joshua Martinelli, 29, of Northampton, faces several charges from the Thursday, Dec. 7, shooting, the Northwestern District Attorney's Office said. He is being held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing on Thursday, Dec. 14. Easthampton Woman Gets Pre-Trail Probation For Fatal Crash With Pedestrian
A woman who killed a pedestrian in a 2018 crash has been sentenced to pre-trial probation after a judge ruled she was not fit to stand trial. Ruby Schmid, 62, of Easthampton, will submit to five years of pre-trial probation for a charge of negligent motor vehicle homicide, the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office said on Wednesday, July 29.
