Hit-Run Crash: Teen Killed After Being Runover In Remote Western Mass Cornfield, DA Says

Police in Hampshire County are looking for the pickup truck driver who ran over a Florence teenager in a cornfield in Hatfield Friday, March 24, and left the man to die of his injuries, authorities said. 

The driver of a white pickup truck who crashed into Jesse Johansmeyer, 19, in Hatfield on Friday, March 24, didn't stay to help. The Florence teen died the following morning at Baystate Medical Center.

Jesse Johansmeyer, 19, of Burts Pit Road, died the next morning at Baystate Medical Center after doctors couldn't save his life, the Northwestern District Attorney's Office said. 

Johansmeyer was run over around 11:30 p.m. on Friday while attending a bonfire in a remote area called the Hatfield Meadows off Great Neponset Road and South Street near the Connecticut River, officials said. 

A white pickup truck slammed into him before driving away. Police are asking the public to help track down the driver. 

Hatfield Police are investigating the crash with the Northwestern DA's Office and State Police.
