A Maryland father and son are facing federal charges after a months-long fentanyl investigation culminated on Thursday, Aug. 27, with searches that allegedly turned up approximately $1.7 million worth of drugs, according to the US Attorney's Office.
Rashad Deondre Hicks, 36, of Largo, and his father, Lawrence Alonzo Hicks, 62, of District Heights, were arrested following an investigation that prosecutors say began in January.

A New Jersey business owner suffered life-threatening injuries when he fell from a roof and landed on a railing that impaled him through his side over the weekend, according to authorities and a fundraiser launched by a longtime friend.
Stavros Makris, 24, of Westfield, fell from the roof of a home on the 300 block of Wychwood Road around 1:34 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, Westfield Police Chief Christopher Battiloro said.
