School Bus Catches Fire In Bridgeport All people aboard a Fairfield County school bus were able to get off safely when the vehicle caught fire. The fire occurred in Bridgeport around 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 4, at Jones Avenue and Oak Street. According to Tiadora Josef, the Bridgeport Fire Department spokeswoman, the first responding units confirmed the bus was engulfed in flames. "Everyone was off the bus when units responded," she said. The incident occurred in Hartford around 11 p.m., Monday, June 3, in the area of 36 New Britain Ave. According to Lt. Aaron Boisvert of the Hartford Police, officers responded to the area after the department received numerous 911 calls reporting a toddler struck by a vehicle. Girl, 9, Rescued From Swimming Pool At Danbury Home A 9-year-old girl was rescued from a Fairfield County swimming pool by a bystander who administered first aid. The incident occurred in Danbury around 3 p.m., Sunday, May 25, at a home on Westwood Terrace.
