Rail Service Resumes After Train Hits Tree In CT
Two Metro-North trains were temporarily taken offline on Monday, Feb. 17, after striking trees. The first was reported just after 7:30 a.m. in Wilton, Metro-North said in a social media post. None of the 70 people on board were injured, and rail authorities moved all passengers to buses to complete their trips. Service has since returned to normal. Tractor-Trailer Crash Causes Massive Traffic Jam On Route 15
A portion of Route 15 was closed Thursday morning, Feb. 13, after a car crashed with a tractor-trailer. The wreck was reported around 7:45 a.m. between westbound Exits 66 and 68, CTRoads.org said. No one was hurt, but the crash caused a traffic jam that stretched four miles. The Department of Energy and Environmental responded to the scene because of a reported fuel leak. Police closed the I-691 West ramp (Exit 68W) ramp Thursday morning as they cleaned, cleared, and investigated the scene. Visit CT Roads for updates on when the ramp reopens.

Tractor Trailer Rolls Over On I-84 In Fairfield County
Connecticut State Police responded to a tractor-trailer rollover crash on Tuesday morning, Feb. 4, on I-84 in Fairfield County. The incident happened around 9:30 a.m. at the I-84 East at the Route 7 North merger. Paramedics treated the driver was treated for minor injuries, authorities said. Authorities remain at the scene, but traffic is continuing to flow.

The Connecticut State Department of Transportation is asking drivers to take extra precautions to protect themselves while driving because of icy roads. Gov. Ned Lamont ordered the state into its severe cold weather protocol that will begin at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, and run through noon Thursday. Stunning Photos Show Loaded Car Carrier Ablaze On I-95 In Westbrook
A loaded car carrier caught fire bringing traffic to a halt in the northbound lanes of I-95 in Westbrook Wednesday morning, Dec. 11, according to Connecticut State Police. Troopers from Troop F responded to the highway under the I-95 overpass near Exit 65 and Route 153 in Westbrook, forcing the closure of the highway. The flames spread to vehicles on the carrier but were quickly extinguished by firefighters, officials said. For safety, I-95 was shut down while fire crews worked at the scene. Part of a busy roadway carrying traffic across a dam in Connecticut has been reopened after being damaged by severe flooding, officials announced. A 30-year-old mom woman is dead following a multiple-vehicle crash involving entrapment that closed all lanes of US Route 30 East in part of Lancaster County, authorities announced on Tuesday, June 4.
