2 Injured In Westport House Fire
Two residents were injured durng a Fairfield County house fire that started in the basement of the residence. The fire occurred in Westport around 9:20 a.m., Wednesday, April 17 on Hunt Club Lane. According to Assistant Chief Brett Kirby of the Westport Fire Department, the wo occupants had already left the home on their own when firefighters arrived on the scene. Early Morning Fire Destroys Westport Barn, Apartment
A Fairfield County barn with an attached apartment was destroyed by an early morning fire. The incident took place in Westport around 6 a.m., Monday, June 5 on Old Hill Road. The first arriving firefighters found fire showing from the barn with all residents out of the building, said Westport Fire Department Assistant Chief Brian Meadows. Crews Extinguish Blaze At Fairfield County Residence
Firefighters worked overnight to extinguish a blaze that broke out at a Fairfield County home. Crews responded to a deck fire at a home on Island Way in Westport at about 1:40 a.m. on Monday, July 25, according to the Town of Westport Fire Department. A mutual aid truck company from Norwalk also responded to the scene. Authorities located the fire on an exterior deck on the second floor of the home, officials said. Classes have resumed at a Fairfield County elementary school after a fire forced students to evacuate. A police officer in Westport assigned to Long Lots Elementary School, located on Hyde Lane, first noticed trouble at around noon Wednesday, May 25, when he smelled smoke in the school’s auditorium, according to the Westport Fire Department. The officer pulled a fire alarm after spotting smoke and used a fire extinguisher to douse the flames. Some 50 dogs and cats were saved during a fast-moving fire in Fairfield County that caused residents to jump from second-floor windows. A fire caused extensive damage to a Fairfield County home as temperatures dipped into the 20s. The fire took place around 5 p.m., Monday, March 28, at 24 Red Coat Road in Westport.
