Fairfield County Man Wins $100K In State Lottery
Connecticut Lottery has announced a number of big winners, including a Fairfield County resident who won a $100,000 prize.
Jeffrey Riecker, of Wilton, won the $100,000 "200X 2nd Edition" prize from a ticket purchased at A-Z Variety And Cigars in Norwalk, the CT Lottery announced on Friday, Oct. 28.
The lottery also announced other recent winners, including:
Jimmie Singleton Jr., of Hamden, who claimed a $52,708 "PLAY4 DAY" from a ticket purchased at 7-Eleven in West Haven

Storm With Damaging Winds Knocks Out Power To Thousands In Connecticut
A strong storm with damaging wind gusts has left thousands without power in Connecticut.
At around 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, about 12,500 outages were reported statewide.
A total of 11,500 Eversource customers are without service, with most of the outages in the Town of Litchfield (1,959), Monroe (1,700) in Fairfield County, Cheshire (658) in New Haven County, Winchester (590) in Litchfield County, Farmington (487) in Hartford County, Thomaston (434) in Litchfield County, Southbury (414) in New Haven County, and Harwinton (337) in Litchfield County.

Skeletal Remains Found In Wooded Area In CT ID'd As 20-Year-Old Woman
Skeletal remains found in a wooded area in northern Connecticut have been identified as a 20-year-old woman, according to state police.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner identified the remains found in Litchfield County in December as Brianna Beam, according to an announcement from Connecticut State Police on Thursday, Feb. 17.
Beam was known to have ties to the Waterbury, Thomaston, and Bristol areas, and the State of Rhode Island, police said.
Her remains were found on Sunday, Dec. 19, off Campville Road on the Harwinton/Northfield town line, State Police said.

Fairfield County Teacher Ordered To Stay Away From Alleged Sexual Abuse Victims
A Connecticut teacher who has been charged with allegedly sexually abusing two students has been ordered to stay away from the victims.
The case against Samantha Peck, age 30, a science teacher at the Bridgeport Military Academy was continued to Wednesday, Dec. 1, during a hearing on Monday, Nov. 15.
During the proceeding, a Bridgeport Assistant State Attorney requested the protective orders for the alleged victims, which was granted.

Fairfield County Teacher Accused Of Sexual Abuse Of Students, Police Say
A teacher at a Fairfield County military academy has been charged with allegedly sexually abusing two students.
Litchfield County resident Samantha Peck, of Thomaston, a teacher at the Bridgeport Military Academy, was arrested on Tuesday, Nov. 8, by Bridgeport Police.
According to Scott Appleby, director of Emergency Management for Bridgeport, Peck was arrested on two warrants, each charging her with sexual assault.
Peck was released after posting a $100,000 bond.
Appleby said the investigations are ongoing and the names of the victims have been withheld.
