Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued For Fairfield County, With Damaging Winds, Tornadoes Possible A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for most of the region as a potent system develops that will bring drenching downpours, and damaging wind gusts between 60 and 70 miles per hour with 1-inch hail and an isolated tornado. The watch was issued just before 3 p.m. Saturday, July 29, and is in effect until 9 p.m. Saturday. Severe Thunderstorm Watch In Effect For Westchester With a new round of storms heading eastward, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for much of the region.
