A firefighter from Fairfield County is being praised for his heroic actions after he helped rescue residents from a burning apartment while off-duty. Greenwich firefighter Doug Howley saw a fire in a New Haven County apartment complex on Meriden Road in Waterbury while he was driving to a birthday party on Saturday, March 26, Waterbury Mayor Neil O'Leary said. Residents Rescued After Fire Breaks Out In Region
Footage of body cameras worn by Western Massachusetts police officers has been released to the public showing them rescuing residents from a burning building. The incident took place in Hampden County around 4:15 a.m., Monday, Dec. 13, when members of the Springfield Police Department responded to a call for a fire at a multi-family home on Fort Pleasant Avenue. Three Injured After Fire Breaks Out At Fairfield County Home
Three people were injured during a fire at a Fairfield County home. The fire started around 9 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 8, at a home located at 646 Hallett St., in Bridgeport. According to Scott Appleby, director of Emergency Management for Bridgeport, those injured were found on the ground in the front of the home and their injuries were consistent with a fall. Fairfield County Man Rescued After Crashing Pick Up Truck In Pond
First responders rescued a Fairfield County driver after his pickup truck was found partially submerged in a pond following a crash with another vehicle. The incident took place at 7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 25 in Easton. Officers responded to Banks Road for a report of a vehicle crash, according to Chief of Easton Police Richard Doyle. Upon the officers' arrival, they found a partially submerged truck in a pond, about 30 feet from shore with the driver still inside, Doyle said. Fairfield County Woman Dies After Getting Caught In Rip Current
A Fairfield County woman has died after getting caught in a rip current. The incident took place in Toms River, New Jersey around 12:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 18. Police and EMS were dispatched to 8th Avenue and Ocean Ave in Ortley Beach for multiple swimmers in distress. Firefighters were able to rescue two people who were caught in the rip current. A third person, a 27-year-old female from Brookfield, had been going underwater multiple times and appeared to not be moving, police said. A 26-year-old Fairfield County father drowned while attempting to save his two small children who were having difficulty swimming. The incident took place around 5 p.m., Monday, Sept. 6, in Litchfield County when New Milford Police responded to the Candlewood Shores Community Beach. According to Lt.
