Just as he was larger than life in the ring, Hulk Hogan’s outsized legacy in sports and entertainment will loom for years to come.
Hogan, whose real name was Terry Gene Bollea and who became a global icon as professional wrestling’s most recognizable figure, has died at 71. The cause of death was cardiac arrest, according to TMZ, which first reported the news.
Born in Augusta, Georgia in 1953, the 6-foot-7, 300-pound Hogan launched his wrestling career in 1977 and skyrocketed to fame in the 1980s when he signed with the World Wrestling Federation (now WWE).

CT Man Threatened Walmart Employees With Knife, Racist Language, Police Say
A Connecticut man was arrested for allegedly threatening Walmart employees with a knife and racist language.
The incident took place in New Haven County around 3:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 1 in Milford, at the store on Boston Post Road.
Officers responded to the store for a threatening complaint where employees said that Anthony Kane, age 32, of Milford, approached them with a knife in his hand, said Milford Police.
Kane threatened to kill the employee and called them a racial epithet, police said.
He also spit at them but missed and threatened another employee, police said.

A Connecticut man faces a bigotry charge for allegedly spitting, and yelling racial slurs, over a COVID-19 mask policy at a package store.
Hartford County resident Daniel Henderson, age 57, of Stonington, was arrested on Wednesday, Oct. 27.
According to Lieutenant Keith Egan, of the Stonington Police Department, Henderson had an active warrant stemming from an incident that occurred at Lefty’s Package Store in April.
