Plainfield Woman, 33, Killed In Fiery Overnight Crash A Connecticut woman who was a passenger died after the vehicle ran off the road and hit a bridge abutment before bursting into flames, according to authorities. The crash occurred in New London County at 10:20 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, on I-395 northbound in Lisbon. According to Connecticut State Police, the Dodge was traveling northbound on the highway when it ran off the right side of the road and struck the abutment for the Preston Allen Road overpass. Tim Murray, of Ashby, crashed his Freightliner truck in Griswold, New London County between Exit 24 and 28 around 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8 Construction had closed the southbound right-hand lane of the highway. CT Man Struck By Lightning As Severe Storms Roared Through Region A 34-year-old Connecticut man was struck by lightning as several severe thunderstorms ripped through the area. The incident occurred in New London County around 6:15 p.m., Wednesday, July 17, on Orchard Farms Road in Colchester. According to Colchester Fire Chief Steve Hoffmann, crews responded to the home and found the man "conscious and alert" but suffering from chest pains.
