Man From Region Sentenced For Cocaine Distribution
A Western Massachusetts man has been sentenced to five years in prison for distributing nearly one kilogram of cocaine. Julio Rivera, age 47, of Worcester, was sentenced on Thursday, Dec. 16, after being convicted by a jury in September of distribution and possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine, said Acting US Attorney Nathaniel Mendell. Former Youth Football Coach In Massachusetts Sentenced For Sexually Exploiting Children
A former youth football coach in Massachusetts who preyed on minors and took video of himself sexually abusing them has been sentenced in federal court. Massachusetts Landlord, Tenants Reach Settlement Over Sexual Harassment Claims
A property landlord in Massachusetts and one of his employees have reached a resolution for allegedly sexually harassing female tenants, the US Attorney’s Office announced. Mohan Prashad, who is a landlord in Worcester, and his employee David Besaw agreed to resolve allegations that they violated the Fair Housing Act by sexually harassing female tenants. Former Resident In Region Sentenced For Charges Related To Sham Marriage
A former Western Massachusetts resident has been sentenced for entering into a sham marriage to obtain immigration benefits for another person. Phu Thanh Huynh, age 33, formerly of Springfield, has been sentenced to one year of probation and ordered to pay a $20,000 forfeiture after admitting to marrying a Vietnamese national in 2013. A Massachusetts man admitted to trying to profit from the COVID-19 pandemic by applying for phony business loans and then spending the money on personal expenses. Richard Oworae, age 59, of Worcester, pleaded guilty this week to fraudulently applying for business loans under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act to the tune of nearly $200,000.
