Rafael Becomes Hurricane With 115 MPH Winds: Future Path Has Pair Of Possibilities
Tropical Storm Rafael has now become a hurricane, with its projected path now uncertain.
It made landfall in western Cuba as a major Category 3 storm in Cuba late Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 6, with life-threatening storm surge, damaging hurricane-force winds, and destructive waves reported, along with 115 mph winds.
Tropical storm conditions are then possible in the Florida Keys late in the day Wednesday and Wednesday night, the National Hurricane Center said.

A 43-year-old Connecticut man wanted for allegedly killing a Springfield man and critically wounding a second in Vermont was arrested on Saturday, July 22, as he returned from Jamaica, authorities said.
Devon Dennis, of Hartford, was charged with second-degree murder and second-degree attempted murder in the May 12 shooting in Brookfield, Vermont, Vermont State Police said.

A Connecticut man is facing prison time after admitting to trying to fly to Syria in order to fight for ISIS.
New Haven County resident Kevin McCormick, age 29, of Hamden, admitted to trying to join the terrorist organization in Bridgeport Federal Court on Thursday, Jan. 12, according to the US Attorney's Office for the District of Connecticut.
Between August and October 2019, McCormick repeatedly told others of his desire to travel to Syria to lend support to the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS).

CT Man Sentenced For Child Sex Trafficking
A 24-year-old man has been sentenced to years in federal prison for sex trafficking a teenage girl at Connecticut hotels, authorities announced.
Hartford County resident Joseph Pina, of East Hartford, was sentenced to 96 months (eight years) in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release, for a sex trafficking offense involving a 16-year-old girl.
US Attorney Leonard Boyle said that in October 2019, Pina and associate Joel Lindsay, a citizen of Jamaica, recruited and transported the teenage girl to engage in commercial sex acts.
