A 77-year-old Connecticut man was killed after he allegedly lost control of his SUV and veered off the roadway, hitting a rock wall. New Haven County resident Peter Botarelli, age 77, of Guilford, was killed around 10 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 19, on I-95 in Branford. According to Connecticut State Police, Botarelli was traveling south on I-95 when he lost control of his 2009 Nissan Xterra 4.0. Officials in Connecticut are warning motorists to look out for deer as the peak season for collisions involving the animals approaches. According to AAA Northeast, deer crashes in the Nutmeg State are increasing "by leaps and bounds," and the peak time of year for collisions has been starting earlier and earlier every year, officials announced on Tuesday, Oct. 10. A 20-year-old Connecticut man was killed after losing control of his vehicle and striking a metal guardrail.
