Airline CEOs Urge Congress To Overhaul 'Outdated' Air Traffic Control Systems After Failures
Major airline CEOs are calling on Congressional lawmakers to upgrade the nation's air traffic control systems, especially after recent widespread issues at Newark Liberty International Airport.
The top executives sent the open letter to Congress on Wednesday, May 21. The group showed its support for a federal modernization plan to replace decades-old technology and hire thousands of new air traffic controllers.

School Bus Driver In Fairfield County Faces DUI Charge After Crash
A Fairfield County school bus driver has been charged with putting 26 middle school students at risk when he crashed into a FedEx van.
Harold Bollings, age 64, of Stratford, was arrested on Tuesday, March 1, on a warrant for the incident which took place on Wednesday, Jan. 12 in Stratford.
The crash took place in the area of 3241 Main St., said Captain Frank Eannotti, of the Stratford Police.
At the time of the crash, Bolling was driving a school bus with 26 students aboard, said Eannotti.

Man Sentenced For Trafficking Drugs To Connecticut
An out-of-state man has been sentenced to 20 months in prison for trafficking drugs into Connecticut.
Leonard C Boyle, acting US Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that Noe Castro, age 51, of Phoenix, Arizona, was sentenced Wednesday, Oct. 20.
According to court documents and statements made in court, in late 2018, the Drug Enforcement Administration’s New Haven Task Force and New Haven Police Department began investigating an organization that was responsible for trafficking kilogram-quantities of heroin, fentanyl, and cocaine from Mexico and Arizona to the New Haven area.…
CT FedEx Employees Accused Of Stealing 20 Smartphones
Two FedEx employees have been charged with allegedly stealing 20 smartphones from a shipping box on a conveyor belt.
Simon M. Muriithi, age 18, of South Windsor, and Tyshawn Thomas, age 19, of East Hartford, both employees at the FedEx distribution center in South Windsor were arrested on Tuesday, Oct. 19.
According to Sergeant Mark Cleverdon, of the South Winsor Police, the two were observed by FedEx security stealing smartphones from a shipping box on their conveyor belt.
In total, 20 phones were taken, totaling approximately $8,000, police said.
