Dog Starts Fire That Kills Family Pets, Seriously Damages CT Home A family's dog jumping near an oven sparked a fire that cost a family their pets and two high school students their belongings, authorities said.  The fire was reported on Friday, June 6, on Prior Road in Enfield. Fire officials said a dog was trying to get something on the stove and accidentally nudged a knob that turned on a burner shortly before 8 p.m.  That sparked the blaze. Enfield firefighters rushed to the area to contain it. The family and one cat escaped without injury, but the family's other animals were killed in the fire.
