Winchester Police Seize 24 Dogs From Home, Charge Woman With Animal Cruelty
A Connecticut woman has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty after police rescued 24 dogs from her home this week, authorities said.
Sarah Smolak, 28, of Winsted, was charged Tuesday, March 18, with two counts of animal cruelty and is being held on a $150,000 bond, Winchester Police reported.
Officers responded to her Strong Terrace home in Winchester around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday after an investigation by the Town of Harwinton Regional Animal Control Department and Connecticut's Department of Agriculture animal control officers, police said.

A 32-year-old Connecticut woman was arrested on multiple charges, including operating under the influence (OUI) and risk of injury to a child, following a traffic stop on I-84, Connecticut, State Police said.
A driver later identified as Precious Seay, 32, of Winsted was spotted by troopers conducting an OUI enforcement detail going 80 mph and swerving out of her lane near exit 16 in Middlebury around 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9, police said.

That's the pitch for the new season of "Divine Renovation, Destination: New England," a home renovation show filmed entirely in northwestern Connecticut. The first episode will premiere on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 5:30 a.m. on Fox 61 in Hartford and will air each Saturday for four more weeks.
