1 Dead, 2 Injured After Car Crashes Into CT Bridge Abutment
A 20-year-old Meriden man was killed early Friday after his car crashed head-on into a bridge abutment, authorities said. The fatal wreck happened around 1:43 a.m. on Feb. 14 when a northbound 2007 Honda Accord slammed into an Amtrak train bridge near South Colony Road and Powers Drive in Meriden, police said. Two passengers survived with non-life-threatening injuries, but the driver was pronounced dead at a local hospital despite first responders' best efforts. A Boston, MA man was has been arrested for reckless driving on I-84 in CT after being clocked at 130 miles per hour, state police said. A shoplifting incident at an Ulta store in New Jersey led to a police pursuit, a crash, and the arrest of two Connecticut women after a chaotic chase, authorities said. Busy Roadway Across CT Dam Reopens To Traffic After Flood Damage Repairs
Part of a busy roadway carrying traffic across a dam in Connecticut has been reopened after being damaged by severe flooding, officials announced. Route 34 in the Fairfield County town of Monroe and New Haven County town of Oxford between Route 111 and Coppermine Road has been reopened after suffering damage from flooding on Sunday, Aug. 18, the Connecticut Department of Transportation announced on Tuesday, Aug. 27.
