Kevin L. Epps, of Darien, was arrested on Wednesday, March 19, and charged with two counts of strangulation, unlawful restraint, threatening, and disorderly conduct, authorities said.

Police responded to a domestic violence call around 1:30 p.m. to a home on Post Road in Darien. Officers identified Epps as the suspect and located him on Country Club Road in Norwalk, authorities said.

Authorities did not say if the victim suffered injuries in the attack.

He was being held on a $2 million bond, officials said.

In 2004, Epps, who then lived in Stamford, was convicted of covering his fiancée in gasoline and setting her on fire in a car at West Side park, police said.

The victim, who suffered severe scars to her face and extremities, testified that she broke off her engagement with Epps after he gave her an STD, the Stamford Advocate reported

She met up with him two days later to return the ring. That's when she said he punched her in the face, pulled him into the back of the van by her hair, and covered her in gasoline before tossing two lit matches on her, the report continues.

He was sentenced to 20 years in prison, the report said. It's unclear when he was released.
