Troopers from Troop F – Westbrook were conducting routine traffic enforcement around 3:20 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, when they spotted a white Acura TL with a Connecticut registration on Route 9 southbound in Deep River. Drunk CT Woman Driving Wrong-Way On Route 9 Leads Cops On Slow-Speed Chase: Police A Connecticut woman was arrested after allegedly driving the wrong way on Route 9 in Old Saybrook while intoxicated, according to police. Patricia Shanahan, 58, was taken into custody on Saturday, Jan. 18, around 10:30 p.m., following a slow-speed chase between Exits 2 and 3 on Route 9, Connecticut State Police said. Troopers said they spotted Shanahan driving north in the southbound lanes and stopped their cruiser in front of her vehicle to pull her over. CT Driver ID'd As Victim In Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash On Route 9 Police have identified the 61-year-old man who was killed on Thursday, Jan. 2, when his car crashed on Route 9, authorities said.  Francisco Alves Ribeiro, of Danbury, was driving south around 6 a.m. when his Honda Accord left the roadway and crashed into a tree in the grass median near Exit 19, Connecticut State Police said.  Police closed the highway for several hours as they cleaned, cleared, and investigated the scene. Paul Krampitz didn't look like a preacher, but his friends and colleagues said he was built for it.   Middlesex County resident Paul Krampitz, age 65, of Cromwell, was killed Thursday, Sept. 18, when a car crashed into his Harley Davidson motorcycle around 4:15 p.m. near Exit 33 on Route 9 in Berlin, Connecticut State Police said.
