Driver Cut From Wreckage Following Horrific Crash On I-95 In CT Firefighters in Connecticut had to cut a driver from their car following a serious crash early Saturday morning, Jan. 12.  The crash happened just after 3 p.m. on I-95 near Exit 18 in Westport.  Photos of the crash, show a mangled car that seemed no one would survive, but Westport firefighters were able to cut them from the wreckage to rush them to an area hospital.  Authorities did not release the driver's name or their condition.  Little is known about the cause of the crash, but Westport police are investigating the cause.

Oh, Deer! Watch CT Crews Rescue Fawn From Icy Saugatuck River At dawn, firefighters braved freezing temperatures and icy waters to rescue a deer trapped in a river. The Westport Fire Department responded to reports of a doe stuck in the Saugatuck River around 6:45 a.m. Thursday. Crews donned cold-water rescue suits and successfully pulled the deer to safety. Westport firefighters pulled a deer after it got stuck in the ice on the Saugatuck River. Wesport Fire Department Once on firm ground, the animal quickly scampered back into the woods. The firefighters received "fawning praise" for their efforts — without charging the doe a buck.
