A New York resident has died days after contracting the state’s first human case of a rare but serious mosquito-borne virus in nearly a decade. A tornado touched down in the Hudson Valley as post-Tropical Depression Debby swept through the Northeast. The incident happened at 5:52 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, in Ulster County near the New York State Thruway interchange in the town of New Paltz. "We have patrolled the surrounding area and have not found any damage to structures or reported injuries," the New Paltz Police Department reports. Man Parks SUV In Train's Path In Hudson Valley, Runs Away, Cops Say
Police in New York say a Connecticut man intentionally parked his Chevy Equinox on train tracks in the path of a CSX train and then ran away only to be caught. The Hudson Valley incident occurred in Ulster County around 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 28, south of the Esopus Avenue railroad crossing in the town of Espous. According to Capt. Joseph Sciutto of the Ulster County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a report of a train hitting a car.
