A Honduran man convicted of sex crimes in Connecticut was sentenced to 20 months in federal prison after he illegally reentered the United States after being deported, authorities said. Jose Pavon-Fermin, 40, was removed from the country in June 2021 after serving time for sexual assault and unlawful restraint, the US Attorney for Connecticut said. Bridgeport police arrested a registered sex offender while investigating reports of a "Peeping Tom" in a neighborhood plagued by suspicious activity, authorities said. Officers responded to 655 Palisades Avenue on Monday, Feb. 4, after residents reported a man banging on windows and peering into apartments, according to the Bridgeport Police Department. Mass. Hammer Murderer Gets Life In Prison For Killing Sleeping Wife: DA
A Massachusetts man who beat his estranged wife to death with a hammer as she slept will spend at least the next 25 years in prison, authorities said. Michael A. Cook Sr., of North Adams in Berkshire Country, was convicted of second-degree murder last week and was sentenced to life in prison on Thursday, Oct. 10, the Berkshire County District Attorney's Office said.
