Man Sentenced In Fires That Destroyed Historic CT Church
A teenager who set a string of arson fires, including one that destroyed a nearly 200-year-old Connecticut church, will spend at least three years in prison, authorities announced. The man pleaded guilty in June to a string of 2023 fires when he was 17 years old, the State's Attorney's Office said on Tuesday, Sept. 23. A late-night apartment fire sent firefighters rushing to a two-story building, where pets were rescued and residents escaped unharmed, authorities said. A fire broke out at the Shorehaven Golf Club pro shop on Thursday morning, Jan. 30, sending thick smoke billowing into the air as emergency crews rushed to contain the flames. Norwalk Fire Department arrived at 14 Canfield Ave. just after 8:40 a.m. to find flames climbing the outside of the 1.5-story wood-frame building.
