A Connecticut man who tried to kidnap, drown, and sexually assault a 20-year-old woman in broad daylight has been sentenced to 25 years in prison, prosecutors announced.
Mynor Romeo Alvarado-Canahui, 36, of Norwalk, pleaded guilty to attempted murder, first-degree kidnapping, first-degree assault, and attempted first-degree sexual assault in connection to the May 2020 attack that left the victim with a fractured skull, broken vertebrae, and permanent hearing loss, state prosecutors said.
He will also be required to register as a sex offender for life.

CT Woman, 64, In Critical Condition Following Rollover Crash
A 64-year-old Connecticut woman is fighting for her life after she was involved in a rollover crash earlier this week, authorities said.
The Amston woman was driving south on Gilead Street in Hebron just before 5 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 17, when she crossed a double yellow line on a left-hand curve, putting her in the path of an oncoming Ford E-350, state police said.
The impact sent her Nissan Pathfinder off the road, causing it to roll over, police said.

Several Northeast states are among the most educated in the US, excelling in school quality, college attainment, and overall academic achievement, a new study said.
