Connecticut saw a slight dip in its daily COVID-19 positive infection rate, though the state recorded nine new infections tied to the Omicron variant, according to health officials.
In his latest COVID-19 update, Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont announced that there were 53,948 tests administered on Thursday, Dec. 9, resulting in 3,280 laboratory-confirmed cases of the virus as the daily positive infection rate dipped to 6.08 percent, down from 6.48 percent the previous day.

The positive COVID-19 infection rate in Connecticut has ballooned to nearly 6 percent, the highest rate in months as the winter wave of new cases continues.
In his latest update, Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont said that the daily positive COVID-19 infection rate rose to 5.96 percent, the highest in 10 months, up from the 5.25 percent the previous day.
In total, there were 15,224 COVID-19 tests administered on Monday, Nov. 29, resulting in 907 laboratory-confirmed cases of the virus for the elevated positive infection rate.

A fatal head-on crash at a busy Connecticut intersection left two dead and a third hospitalized, State Police said.
Tolland County resident James Bobbitt, age 91, of Mansfield Center, was driving east on Route 6 in the Town of Windham in Windham County as Thurl Hiltz, age 89 was driving in the opposite direction with Carlene Drysdale, age 90, of Livermore Falls, Maine in the front seat of his Chevrolet Impala shortly before 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 22.
