Officer Saves Suicidal Man From Jumping Off Bridge In Fairfield County A Fairfield County police officer who was on his way to work saved a suicidal man from jumping off a bridge overpass. The incident took place around 6:45 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 23, as the Westport Police officer was driving through Fairfield on his way to Westport. According to Lieutenant David Wolf, of the Westport Police, Officer Brian Meraviglia encountered a suicidal man who was preparing to jump off the Redding Road overpass onto the Merritt Parkway below.
