2 Oxford Women Who Died After Being Swept Away By Flood Waters Identified By Police Two Connecticut women who died after being swept away by floodwaters in separate incidents have been identified. According to the National Weather Service, the incidents occurred in New Haven County around 5:15 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, on Route 67 in Oxford, which received more than 10 inches of rain. According to Connecticut State Police Cpl. Daniel Loughman, the women were in vehicles stuck in floodwaters that washed away their cars from the Little River. Contractor Scammed Fairfield County Woman Out Of $50K, Police Say A Fairfield County woman says she was scammed out of $50,000 by an area contractor. Venus Rogers, of Stratford, who is a full-time caregiver for her disabled daughter, said she hired a Stamford-based contractor to fix her home after it was flooded in November. Captain Paul DosSantos of the Stratford police says the department is investigating after the contractor allegedly gutted the home and never finished the job.
