A Connecticut teen was charged with rioting, threatening police, and other crimes for his part in a street takeover event.
New Haven County resident Adalberto Oceguera, age 18, of West Haven turned himself in to Connecticut State Police on Thursday, March 7 for taking part in several street takeover events including one in Meriden on Saturday, May 6, 2023.
According to State Police, during an extensive and ongoing investigation into numerous street takeover events, Oceguera was identified as a co-conspirator in the damage of a Meriden Police cruiser which occurred on May 6.

Police believe they've nabbed the person behind a string of racing incidents dubbed “street takeovers" in Connecticut.
A 20-year-old Fairfield County resident, Jefferson Duron, of Norwalk, was arrested at approximately 1:40 p.m. on Monday, May 22, for being a ring leader in a series of illegal street racing events, according to Connecticut State Police.
The arrest came after months of police investigations into “street takeover” events, where racers and spectators gather to race cars, perform a burnout with their cars, set off fireworks, and more, officials said.

A mother and daughter from Connecticut who admitted to their roles in the Jan. 6 insurrection at the US Capitol building will avoid prison time after being sentenced.
