19-Year-Old Nabbed For Norwalk Boat Burglaries, Police Say
A 19-year-old Fairfield County man has been charged with allegedly breaking into a marina and two boats, stealing tools and alcohol.
Christopher McClain, of Redding, was charged on Tuesday, June 11, by Norwalk Police for being one of two men who climbed the fence at the Cove Marina on Friday, May 17, to gain access to the docks.
According to Sgt. Ryan Evarts of the Norwalk Police, the two then broke into two docked boats and took tools and alcohol.

A middle school student was killed during a fire at his residence in Fairfield County Redding.
The blaze began around 11:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 14 in Redding at the Karlson family home on Diamond Hill Road, officials said.
The child, identified as Brien Karlson, a sixth-grade student at John Read Middle School, was injured and taken to the hospital, but later died from his injuries on Wednesday, Feb. 15, said Jason McKinnon, superintendent of the Easton, Redding, and Region 9 school districts.

Fairfield County Man Charged For Failing To Plant Trees, Police Say
A Fairfield County man has been arrested for allegedly taking $13,000 to buy and plant trees he never bought or planted.
Joseph Esposito Jr. age 53, of Redding, was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 15 by Westport Police and charged with larceny.
According to Lieutenant David Wolf, of the Westport Police, Esposito was arrested after the department received a complaint that he had taken $13,000 in November 2021 from a Westport resident to buy and plant trees.
The work was never performed and despite multiple requests, the deposit was not returned to the complainant, Wolf said.

A Fairfield County man who had been missing for several days was found dead in a wooded area.
Shin Maeno, age 28, of Stamford, was found around 1 p.m., on Tuesday, Nov. 23, was found dead in a wooded area of Redding by members of the State Police Search and Rescue Unit, said Captain Diedrich Hohn, of the Stamford Police.
Maeno, who was reported missing on Thursday, Nov 18, was last seen leaving a friend’s apartment, in Stamford, at around noon on Wednesday, Nov. 17, police said.

Nearly 10,000 residents in Connecticut are still without power more than 24 hours after Tropical Depression Ida made its way through the region.
As of 3 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 2, 8,721 of Eversource’s 1.286 million Connecticut customers were still reporting outages, while United Illuminated was still working to repair 127 active outages that were impacting 509 of the company’s customers.
