One person was killed in an overnight crash in Connecticut. It happened just before 10:40 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 23 in Fairfield County on the Merritt Parkway in Westport on the southbound side just before Exit 42. Connecticut State Police say troopers who responded to the scene discovered a white 2016 Toyota Corolla stopped in the middle of two lanes and a white 2021 Infiniti Q50 in the right shoulder with its front end against the wood beam guardrail. 20-Year-Old Nabbed Driving 120 MPH In Fairfield County, Police Say
A 20-year-old man was nabbed by Connecticut State Police allegedly driving 120 mph on Route 8 in Fairfield Couty. New Jersey resident Ethan Steier, of Warren in Somerset County, was clocked around 2 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 26 in a green BMW traveling in excess of 120 mph on Route 8 southbound in the area of Exit 2 in Bridgeport. The area has a posted speed limit of 55 mph, state police said. When troopers attempted to initiate a traffic stop the BMW, accelerated and entered onto I-95 southbound, eluding troopers. Three men face charges in connection with a roadside fight involving firearms that was prompted by one of the suspects brake-checking motorcyclists on the Merritt Parkway in Fairfield County, police said. A 59-year-old Fairfield County man is accused of driving the wrong way on a Connecticut highway while under the influence. Troopers in New Haven County received 911 calls about a vehicle traveling south in the northbound lanes on the Merritt Parkway (Route 15) near Exit 55 in Milford at about 2 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 1, Connecticut State Police reported. Officer Saves Suicidal Man From Jumping Off Bridge In Fairfield County
A Fairfield County police officer who was on his way to work saved a suicidal man from jumping off a bridge overpass. The incident took place around 6:45 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 23, as the Westport Police officer was driving through Fairfield on his way to Westport. According to Lieutenant David Wolf, of the Westport Police, Officer Brian Meraviglia encountered a suicidal man who was preparing to jump off the Redding Road overpass onto the Merritt Parkway below.
