Authorities have identified a man who was killed in a police-involved shooting in Springfield this weekend as a 48-year-old Connecticut man. Police responded to reports of a possibly armed man acting aggressively to others at the MGM Casino around 2 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25, Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni reports. The beloved owner of a popular Western Massachusetts pizzeria that has become an institution has died. Domenic Sarno, the owner of Red Rose Pizzeria in Springfield, died this week. Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno issued a statement on his death saying Caputo "brought a hard family work ethic to start with a small family pizza shop to then create the legendary and iconic Red Rose Pizzeria." Road Rage: Suspect With Child In Car Allegedly Fired Shots In Western Mass
A Western Massachusetts man was arrested for an alleged road-rage incident in which he shot at another vehicle with a small child in his car. The incident took place in Springfield around 12:30 p.m., Sunday, April 3. An investigation revealed two vehicles were involved in a road-rage incident and a minor collision occurred in the 300 block of State St., in Springfield, said Ryan Walsh, spokesman for the Springfield Police. Man Wanted For Stealing Vehicle Outside Convenience Store In Region, Police Say
Know him? Police in Western Massachusetts are seeking the public’s assistance in tracking down a wanted suspect who allegedly stole a vehicle that was parked outside an area convenience store. In Hampden County, investigators with the Springfield Police Department released a pair of surveillance photos of a suspect who allegedly stole a vehicle after making a purchase at a store on the 600 block of Main Street. Vehicle Crashes Into Market In Western Mass
A Western Massachusetts woman who suffered a medical episode hit the front of a popular market and sandwich shop, authorities said. The incident took place on Wednesday, Nov. 3 on Main Street in Springfield at AC’s Main Street Market in Hampden County. According to Springfield Police Spokesperson Ryan Walsh, the woman was driving slowly due to a medical issue when she hit the building causing little damage. No injuries were reported and the woman was taken to a hospital for treatment. The market, located at 489 Main St., remains open.

Handgun Stolen In Connecticut Recovered From 17-Year-Old, Police Say
A juvenile was arrested with a loaded handgun stolen out of Connecticut after being stopped by officers in Western Massachusetts. The 17-year-old teen boy was stopped around 10:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 15, when members of the Springfield Police Department in Hampden County spotted him remove the firearm from his sweatshirt pocket and then put it back in. A man who was arrested on weapons offenses in Western Massachusetts earlier this year is facing new charges after becoming combative with officers attempting to interview him after he was caught driving with a friend riding on the hood of a car.
