Early classes at the UConn Storrs campus were canceled on Monday, March 21 because of a power outage, school officials announced due to the outage.
UConn said the cause of the power outage isn’t yet known, but the university decided to cancel Storrs-based classes before noon because many of its academic and residential buildings are affected.
Other classes at the school’s regional campuses in the Hartford, Stamford, Waterbury, Avery Point, UConn Health, and School of Law were unaffected by the outage.
Officials noted that the Gampel Pavilion still has power and the evening’s women's basketball game is not expected to be affected.
UConn said that students will be provided further information about dining and residential life facilities as the day progresses, and that essential employees should still report to work as normal, though others should refrain from reporting to work until further notice.
